and materials that we provide. Remember what Solomon said in Proverbs 23:23:
"BUY TRUTH, never part with it, buy wisdom, sense, and knowledge" (Moffatt
translation). The Living Bible renders it, "Get the facts AT ANY
PRICE, and hold on tightly to all the good sense you can get."
Then the Messiah, in the
Parable of the Hidden Treasure, tells us that "the kingdom of heaven is like a
treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he
goes and sells all that he has and buys that field" (Matthew 13:44). Also, in
the Parable of the Pearl of Great Price: "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a
merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great
price, went and sold all that he had and bought it" (Matthew 13:45-46).
"Wisdom," according to Solomon, "is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding" (Proverbs 4:7).
Although the tithing
system has been done away with since the time of the Messiah, YEHOVAH God does
love those who are generous to help accomplish His Work. To support his ministry, Paul
allowed people to contribute to his cause. In fact, he said to the elders of
Ephesus, "I have showed you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must
support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he said, 'It is
more blessed to give than to receive'" (Acts 20:35).
